After the year of 1918 is when Wilson's health started going downhill. He got the flu and suffered from asthma attacks. The asthma attacks kept him sleep deprived and weakened his strength
On October 2, 1919 he suffered from a stroke which paralyzed his left side and also slurring his speech. He could slowly get around with the assistance of a cane. In 1924 he was also diagnosed with acute indigestion which make him even more weaker than he already was. On February 1 1924 he said "I am a broken piece of machinery. When the machinery is broken...." He went silent and the ended with "I am ready." He was unconscious until the next day with a short cry for his wife. Shortly thereafter he died holding the hands of his wife and his daughter, Margaret.
Woodrow Wilson was praised by many. Herbert Hoover said " Three qualities of greatness stood out in Woodrow Wilson. He was a man of staunch morals. He was more than just an idealist; he was the personification of the heritage of idealism of the American People. He brought spiritual concepts to the peace table. He was a born crusader." -Herbert Hoover 1958
